Trinity brings Documentum to the California Independent System Operator

Trinity Technologies implemented Documentum at California Independent System Operator (ISO), the operator of the state of California’s wholesale power grid. The ISO is responsible for maintaining system reliability and directs the electron traffic on the transmission highway that serves 30 million Californians. The Documentum system has not experienced a single software-oriented outage during a three-year period.

California ISOFor this highly regulated business, Documentum provides a secure base for all business-critical documentation, including approved Operating Procedures and Standards and Policies. Trinity defined and created customized objects for individual business units and coupled work processes with regulatory workflows to improve compliance. Integration of a scanning/imaging system with Documentum made accessible all legal filings and communications with regulatory agencies.

Trinity also designed and implemented a correspondence management application using the Trinity E-Mail Integration Facility (TEIF) to integrate Documentum and the ISO’s Microsoft Exchange email environment. TEIF identifies and transfers critical information in e-mail messages and attachments directly into Documentum. The entire system was carefully planned by Trinity to minimize burdens on the infrastructure and IT administrators without sacrificing performance. To ensure success of the adoption of Documentum as part of the ISO’s company culture, Trinity spearheaded a corporate-wide change management program that included communication and education programs that support in-house training programs still in use today.
